Can implants be done in one day?
Dental implants can be placed in your jaw in a single appointment. You may need to wait for implants to fully heal - a process that can take several months - before receiving your replacement teeth. Dr. Williams, a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and an aspiring Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID) can advise you.
Can dental implants fail?
Dental implant failure is very rare. Most studies indicate a failure rate of 5 to 10 percent. Factors that affect the success of implants include smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and bone density. Dr. Williams will consider these risk factors during his treatment planning. He also uses computer-guided surgery to place your implants, which allows him to make smaller incisions. This helps avoid complications during recovery.
What are dental implants made of?
Most dental implants are made of medical-grade titanium. This material is highly resistant to corrosion and breakage. It is also one of the most biocompatible metals.
